DJ Mondo’s Atomic Luau: Lunch Rush – UPDATE: MIDI mapping the Gemini PMX 20 Mixer

Good news! Progress has been made in MIDI mapping the PMX-20 mixer to Native Instruments Traktor with info from an unlikely source: the Gemini Sound website.

It turns out, the Traktor MIDI mapping file for the PMX-10, the company’s 2-channel mixer also works for the 4-channel PMX-20, with the exception of gain, EQ, faders and effects of the additional channels (C and D). However, you can copy the MIDI settings for channels C and D from channels A and B. Then you’re in business.

BONUS: The class-compliant PMX-20 can also be used with an Apple iPad! Try it with a crazy DAW like AUM!

DJ Mondo’s Atomic Luau: Lunch Rush – Progress Report on MIDI mapping the Gemini PMX 20 Mixer

The Gemini PMX 20 4-channel mixer is in the Atomic Luau labs.

I’m in the process of mapping the buttons and knobs of the mixer to the functions in NI Traktor. It is both thrilling and exasperating. Everything I know about midi mapping in Traktor, I’ve learned in the last 48 hours.

I’ve learned enough to know that I hate it and that not every Traktor function will be accounted for on the mixer. But I am making progress and I think this is going to work.
