DJ Mondo’s Atomic Luau: Lunch Rush – ENDGAME! MIDI mapping the Gemini PMX 20 mixer to Ableton Live

Atomic Luau labs is finally winning the fight of mapping the Gemini PMX 20 mixer to an Ableton 11 template! This will allow me to trigger loops, apply EQ and effects more intuitively than using the Ableton Push 2. If set up correctly, this will be a real dynamic performance tool.

It was rough at first. I needed a way to launch a single clip. I tried it by using the track selector and cue point buttons. But I couldn’t do it without launching an entire scene (The entire horizontal row of clips in Ableton). The solution was setting the rotary track selector to select the scene and the cue button to launch the track. Only the highlighted clip will launch.

Sounds confusing. But it’s a simple and elegant solution to my clip launching problem. Next step: adding effects modules for pass through.

I’ll say it again. The Gemini PMX-20 is a great buy! Pro features. Reasonable price. Built-in audio processing. So versatile (if you’re patient). No regrets.

Keep watching this space for my first jam on it.
