Ronald Reagan once wondered out loud if an attack on Earth by an outside alien force would be enough to foster at least temporary unity among the normally tribal and sectarian human species.

They’re already facing climate change, environmental destruction, income disparity, health care crisis, child poverty and education denial. They’ve managed to make all of that someone else’s problem.

So, to answer Ronnie, my guess is No.
